Amala Akkineni participates in Swachh Bharat Hyderabad, May 30 (INN): Amala Akkineni, Founder, Blue Cross and Swachh Bharat Ambassador appointed by the Union Ministry, participated in Swachh Bharath Abhiyan conducted at Secunderabad Railway station on Saturday.
The programme was held as a part of the Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight Railyathri/Upbhoktha Pakhwada being celebrated on South Central Railway.
Major Siva Kiran, Founder of the noted NGO Sukuki Exnora and his team members, Dr Sushma Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Health Unit, Secunderabad, other Railway Officials, Supervisors and Staff joined in the campaign.
The activity undertaken as a part of the Cleanliness Initiative included Cleaning of Car Parking area at Secunderabad Railway Station, Counselling the rail using public not to litter the Railway surroundings including the Platform surface, to only use dustbins and avoid using the toilets when trains are on halt at Railway stations. Simultaneously, stall vendors were also educated to keep dustbins in place and also to stop using plastic waste. Adding to the campaign, a rally was conducted to instil public awareness on Cleanliness, covering Platform No. 1 to 10 including waiting halls, booking offices and foot over bridges.
The Drive, which started early morning continued for several hours. Amala Akkineni appreciated SCR for maintaining the Stations clean and agreed with the statement of Minister of Railway that Secunderabad Railway Station is one of the cleanest on Indian Railways.
