President arrives in Hyderabad Hyderabad, June 29 (INN): The Telangana Government has extended a warm welcome to President of India Pranab Mukherji, who arrived here on 10-day Southern Sojourn, at Air Force Station at Hakimpet on Monday.
The President was received at the Air Force Station by Governor ESL Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other dignitaries. In a rare fete of sorts, KCR touched the feet of Pranab Mukherjee after welcoming him with a bouquet.
Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary, Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Ministers including Nayani Narasimha Reddy, T Padma Rao, T Harish Rao, K Tarakarama Rao, MPs K Kavitha, K. Visheswar Reddy and B. Suman, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma and other senior officials were present at the reception. Top officials of the Armed Forces were also present on the occasion.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had abstained from receiving the President for the first time after bifurcation of the State.
The President of India will stay in the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad during the 10-day Southern Sojourn lasting till July 8. During his Southern sojourn, the President will also visit Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh on July 1.
On July 3, the President will receive first copy of the book 'Uniki' written by Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). He will also inaugurate a 'Nakshatra Vatika' at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Bolarum on July 6.
