AP overhauls Education with major reforms Hyderabad, July 3 (INN): As per the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh State Universities on Friday announced major reforms in Higher Education from 2015-16 academic year for all undergraduate courses in the State.
The major reforms include adoption of Semester system; Adoption of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) pattern; Grading system and compulsory introduction of Communication and Soft Skills in one semester (to begin with). These reforms are backed by an extensive exercise in subject-wise curriculum upgradation, undertaken by the Boards of Studies (UG level) of all AP state Universities
Following a meeting with all Vice-Chancellors in December 2014, the Chief Minister had urged for education reforms and curriculum upgradation in the State Universities.
The decision was taken after a meeting with chairpersons of all Board of Studies (UG level) was held today at Andhra University in Vizag. The HRD Minister, Chairman APSCHE, Higher Education Secretary and VCs participated in the meeting.
The Higher Education Department, APSCHE and SV University have played a key role in implementing these reforms which also makes Andhra Pradesh one of the few states in the country to implement curriculum upgradation (as per UGC directed reforms) this academic year.
