Civil Supplies Dept launches new Helpline Hyderabad, Sept 28 (INN): In order to strengthen the consumer redressal mechanism and encourage participation of consumer voluntary organizations in the State, the Department of Consumer Affairs has Civil Supplies Department of Telangana State has launched a new Consumer Helpline (1800-425-00333), informed Civil Supplies Commissioner Dr. Rajat Kumar here on Monday.
The consumers can make complaints and seek advice, guidance and information relating to all departments in the State, on any working day between 10.30 am and 5 pm. in Telugu, Hindi and English. This Helpline service will be provided free of cost.
This Helpline has been developed with the assistance of Govt. of India and Indian Institute of Public Admn. (IIPA) using an advanced IT platform. In future it would serve as e-source centre at the State level and would be networked with the National Resource Centre to develop an Alternate Consumer Dispute Redressal Mechanism.
The State Government is also supporting 1840 Consumer Clubs targeting students in schools and colleges. Efforts are being made to make them aware about the basic rights of consumers such as Right to Safety, Right to be Informed, Right to Seek Redresal and Right to Healthy Environment, Dr. Rajat Kumar said.
