CM asks officials to speed up Water Grid works Hyderabad, Nov 25 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to speed up the execution of works related to Telangana Water Grid Scheme.
Addressing a review meeting at the MCRHRD Institute at Jubilee Hills here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the project should be completed to ensure supply of drinking water through taps to all households across the State. He said that the scheme and its concept was being appreciated throughout the country. He reminded that he had promised that he would not seek vote in next elections if his government fails to provide tapped water supply to all households. Therefore, he said this scheme should be given high importance.
KCR said that earlier each irrigation project used to take 10 to 15 years for completion. However, he said that the TRS aims to complete the projects within two to three years by taking up works on war footing basis. He said several processes in acquisition of land, design and tenders have been simplified for early execution of the project works. He said he would conduct a meeting with the District level officials to review the works.
The Chief Minister has thanked the Ministry of Railways for allowing laying of pipelines on their properties. He said a separate meeting would be held with the officials of Railways, National Highways, Roads & Buildings, Energy and Irrigation to discuss the water grid project.
The meeting was also attended by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao, MLAs Rajaiah, Yadagiri Reddy and Sunita and senior officials of different departments.
