In Written Reply Centre pours cold water on AP Special Status
This news is a huge shock to the people of Andrha Pradesh state and more so to the ruling TDP. The NDA government has once again made it clear that there was no proposal made on according special status to AP.
The Union Minister of State for Finance Mr Jayanth Singh in his written to TDP MP A Srinivas said that Special Status is not part of the AP Reorganization Act. Jayant Sinha categorically said there was no question of amending the rules just to grant special status to AP. He added that there was no mention to fill the revenue loss of AP in state re-organization act.
The Minister assured that all allocations specified in the act will be diligently made by the Centre. This categorical reply follows another minister BH Choudhury's recent statement that Andhra Pradesh will not get special state status. Responding to the statement CM N Chandrababu Naidu brought the special status demand to the fore and said there is no compromise on the issue.
