KTR holds review on rain situation Hyderabad, Aug 31 (INN): Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao expressed deep condolences over the death of seven persons due to heavy down pour in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Wednesday.
The Minister announced an ex-gratia Rs. 2 lakhs to the families of each deceased from GHMC and Rs. 2 lakhs from the Government of Telangana. Altogether Rs. 4 lakhs would be paid as ex-gratia.
Speaking too media persons after holding a review meeting with the top officials, the Minister said that GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy have been personally monitoring the emergency situation and also interacted with the emergency teams to tackle the situation in a more appropriate way. He also said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has given specific directions to bring the situation to normal.
The Minister appealed all the citizens if any grievances pertaining to water logging, falling of trees, collapsed buildings and any grievances related to heavy rains they may call on emergency number ' 100, 21 11 11 11 and also 'myghmc' app to solve their grievances, all various Heads of the Departments are coordinating and inspecting the fields to clear the various issues pertaining to rain related issues.
KTR said the GHMC has identified around 1997 building which are in dilapidated conditions out of which the GHMC has issued notices and around 940 buildings have been demolished so far nearly 95 buildings have been rectified by the concerned owners and they themselves have demolished. There are around 150 court cases with regard to dilapidated buildings and the GHMC officials are monitoring to vacate the dilapidated buildings for their safety.
The Minister once again appealed the owners of the dilapidated buildings to kindly cooperate with the GHMC and to vacate immediately.
The GHMC Mayor, Commissioner, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy and senior officials of various Government departments have participated in the meeting held at emergency control room at GHMC Head Office.
