Note ban reflects Modi's anti-poor policies: Ponnam Karimnagar, Jan 19 (INN): Accusing the Modi government of pushing 90 per cent of the country's population in severe hardships through the demonetisation policy, TPCC Vice-President and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that the Centre had failed to unearth black money as claimed by the BJP.
Addressing a large gathering of party workers at the District Collectorate here as part of Mahila Congress' protest against note ban, Prabhakar said that the Modi government reflected through its note ban policy how insensitive it is towards the poor and the middle class. The Congress leader said that the Centre had pushed the country into chaos through its ill-conceived policy. How can 99% of population be punished to catch 1% of people holding black money, he remarked. Despite two months of note ban the poor and the farmers are suffering due to cash shortage. He said that the rural economy has severely hit and lakhs of daily wagers lost their sources of livelihood.
The Congress leader also took pot shots at the TS Chief Minister saying that he changed his stand on note ban after meeting Prime Minister. He accused the TRS government of turning a blind eye to the sufferings of the people in the wake of note ban.
MLC T Santosh Kumar, Mahila Congress chief Cherla Padma, former Minister D Sridhar Babu, former MLA Arepalli Mohan and others spoke.
