Jagan demands market price for lands Amravati, Jan 19 (INN): Leader of Opposition and YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday demanded the state government to pay market price for the lands being acquired by the government from farmers and other land owners for the construction of the capital city.
Speaking a programme to meet the farmers and other land owners who lost their lands in the land pooling process at CRDA region, Jagan said that the TD government had promised not to take lands from farmers forcibly but was doing contrary to what it promised. He alleged that the government was paying compensation to the land owners in lakhs while the market value was in crores. Compensation of valuable land for farmers is being paid in pea nuts, the YSRC chief said.
The YSRC chief slammed the TD government saying that it will pay heavy price for pushing farmers in crisis. He said that the YSRC will raise the issue at national forums and highlight the plight of the farmers in the state due to wrong policies of the state government.
Jagan promised that if his party comes to power in 2019 Assembly elections, he would ensure that the farmers who parted with their lands were fairly compensated and properly rehabilitated.
