Hello Nash, Agreee with some of your comments except the one on 'friends can be made anywhere and family can be moved'. While I am not a strong subscriber to the no pain no gain philosophy, I do comprehend the reality aspect of it. For me the emphasis is on understanding the gain before committing to the pain. Lot of us from the sub-continent do things because everyone is doing...many of us picture life in the US to be good based on what we hear from folks who visit India and these folks in turn will seldom talk about the reality and focus more on the good ol' life in the US. It's that aspect I wanted to highlight in my article. as they say often, you never know how much you miss something until you actually lose it. Regarding friends, it is hard to replace friends that you know for a lifetime and so IMHO this depends on one's own expectation and intrepretation of friendship. Families can be moved (physically yes) but it takes a while for them to acclimatize with their new environment. Children seem to adpat to this much quicker than adults. You are right on the need to be happy and relate to onself. Somehow when I was writing this article the accomplishment part became hazy. The goals or objectives that brought me here are no longer appealing (part of the reason could be that I achieved those objectives) and at the same time I could not let go the memories of my life in India.

As for the epilogue, i must say that it is true but only upto a point. If seen every thing in life comes with a price. No pain NO GAIN...and friends can be made anywhere and family can be moved(location wise)...but the most important thing is amongst all your decisions you need to be happy...need to relate to yourself and above all stick with the confidence that you will accomplish what you seek for.
