Telugu Times, the First and Only Global Telugu Newspaper, is a fortnightly publication printed at San Francisco and distributed all over USA. Telugu Times has been making sincere efforts to offer its media services and has already become very popular among NR telugu community in USA. National bodies like ATA, TANA, city/area based associations in almost all major cities like San Francisco, Las Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, New york, Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas, Washington etc are enjoying the services of Telugu Times and are supporting it.
On the eve of its First anniversary, and to offer its value added services to the NR telugu community, Telugu Times now proposes to hold events in USA. Popular TV channel Gemini TV/ Teja TV has joined as Channel Partner to these events.
Box Office Film Awards:
Films are always part of telugus even in USA and the community associates with films and film based entertainment. Hence, Telugu Times propose to constitute Film awards and conduct a Film awards Nite as an annual event. It proposes “Box Office Film Awards’ and present film awards to film stars and film personalities in a grand function in USA.
The First ‘Telugu Times Box Office Film Awards Nite’ will be held at Sunny Wale temple auditorium, San Francisco, USA, hosted by Bay Area Telugu association (BATA), a 25 year old telugu association based at Bay area of San Francisco, USA.
Based on thi films released in Jan-Dec 2004 and on their box office success, some films (Varsham, Laxmi Narasimha, Malleswari, Puttintiki raa chelli, Aarya, Yagnam, Gouri, Sankar dada MBBS, Anad, 7/G Brundavan colony, Leelamahal Center, Aa naluguru, Mass) have been selected for the ballot which is given in Telugu Times Feb & Mar issues in USA, also in its website www.telugu-times.com. Invitations will be extended to the stars of the above films, film stars/ personalities be taken to SFO, USA for the event. Based on the ballot results, awards will be finalized and presented in a grand event on the evening of 9 April, 2005, Ugadi day at San Francisco, USA. The Event shall have entertainment programme and be shot and telecast in Gemini TV on a Sunnday evening Prime time in May/June 2005.
Though, obtaining visas and taking the busy film stars to USA is not a very easy task, we are putting our sincere efforts to offer a valued entertainment to the telugus abroad and here. We wish to add one more feather to the film industry by organizing an event as big as this and our initial interaction with several film stars is very encouraging. We are sure with such co-operation, we will make a good beginning.
Pratibha Lahari – Singing & Dancing Competitions:
Another point noticed by Telugu Times is that the present generation (Kids and Youth), bubbling with so much talent, are following our culture and tradition and is encouraged by their parents. So Telugu Times proposes to conduct ‘Pratibha Lahari – Telugu Pillalaku Singing & Dancing poteelu’, a talent search programme in 5 cities of USA namely.
1) San Francisco on 9 April 2005, hosted by Bay Area Telugu association (BATA)
2) Detroit on 16 April 2005 hosted by Detroit Telugu association (DTA)
3) Washington DC on 23 April 2005 hosted by Telugu association of Greater Washington Society (TAGWS)
4) Philadelphia on 30 April 2005 hosted by Telugu Association of Greater Delaware Valley (TADGV).
5) We may have one more city on 7 May 2005.
Along with Gemini TV as Channel Partner, Telugu Association of North
America (TANA) has agreed to associate as Co Presenter to these events.
For both singing and dancing competitions, there are four categories a) Classical b) Folk, c) Film, d) Pop/Western and participants shall bi in the age groups of 5y-10y, 11y-16y, and 17y-22 y. Popular singer Mr G Anand, Swara Madhuri, who has given more than 5000 stage performances will be one of the Judges for singing and popular classical dancer/choreographer Dr Sindhuri, who has given more than 5500 stage performances will be one of the judges for dancing competitions. Participation Certificates and Mementos will be given to participants and winners.
Entire programme will be shot and telecast city wise in Gemini TV on Sundays.
The TV telecast programmes are marketed by New Age Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Mumbai/ Chennai based leading TV time marketing company.
