Mumbai singles use websites, Internet chatting, lovelines and SMSes to find love. A lonely yuppie describes this situation as 'the millennium disease'. Singles are now opting for speed dating to zero in on their soulmates.
Denim brand Lee recently organised a speed dating programme, called Flirty Mumbai. Fifty participants, above 21, were selected on the basis of their bio-data and their choice of partners.
Mr Chakor Jain, Lee business head, said, 'Our consumers are youthful, enthusiastic and self confident. They are willing to try out new ways of discovering each other.'
Sona Mehta (name changed), a contestant, said, 'I liked two guys and communicate with both now.' Jeet Sharma (name changed), another contestant, said, 'Wow! Getting to meet 25 girls in a single day was quite a deal. Most of the girls were nice, but I chose one who was pretty and intelligent. Speed dating is serious business.'
