Articles: Philosophy | WHAT IS PRAYER? - Mrs. manjari
| |
Everyone who believes in a super power, be whatever form he or she may like to worship does believe in prayers. When we pray what we do generally is keep yourself calm and quite in a sitting posture or standing firmly and concentrating on the God or any form of Idol Worship and praise Lord for bestowing us this precious life.
Then we start asking Him to please do me this favor and that favor. There are also some who pray to God and ask him to harm others whom they do not like. It is also a prayer. Like there is a saying in our telugu 'If I lose one eye, my neighbour should lose both his eyes.' But we see people who have not grown further in life.
We see people loudly chanting Stotras and Slokas and doing wrong things. The real prayer which we should offer to God is Pure Mind and Pure Intentions and real Spiritual outlook and wishing good for everyone. When we Say after the prayers 'Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavantu'. Do that Manasa, Vacha and Karmena. Everyone gets this life and carries his Past Karmas and its effects (This is our Karmic theory) to this Birth and He or She will get life accordingly a fully carpeted one with roses all the way and to some it is a rough floor with thorns throughout.
So, If we really can do something good to others, that is all the time wishing good to known and unknown. Our prayer to God should to give us strength and will power to lessen the burden of sorrow on others. Here I am citing an example. Sai devotees praying for the welfare of the suffering and sick with their group prayers and parayanas are seeing concrete results of people coming out of virtual critical conditions and don't you think it gives us immense pleasure. It is just prayer with good intentions.
So let us not confine to just ourselves and let us start thinking beyond that and work together for everyone's welfare. Then the whole world will be with peace. Prayers for the humanity are the most precious ones. Not materialistic demands or desires which are not permanent anyway. Anyway, I am happy atleast our Indians are far ahead in this spiritual outlook and taking pleasure in giving to others. SARVE JANA SUKHINO BHAVANTU!
