Bay Area Telugu Association celebrated auspicious Telugu new year Ugaadi and 35 th Anniversary of BATA in great pomp and style with a day long spectacular function showcasing traditions and culture of Andhra Pradesh on March 25th in Sunnyvale Temple Community Center. Sunnyvale, CA . The popular Fifth annual BATA youth talent show was organized on this occasion. The BATA talent show has established itself as one of the premier talent shows in the bay area within a very short duration and it's popularity was reflected in the growing number of participants year over year. True to its reputation BATA talent show attracted nearly 90 entries in various categories.
Children from a tender age of 5 to youth of 15 took part with great enthusiasm in the senior, junior and sub-junior groups of the various categories. The stage was resplendent with children wearing traditional dresses and costumes 'lungas', 'onis' from Andhra Pradesh and performing to classical, popular folk and film songs leaving the audience wondering if they were in Andhra Pradesh.
It was indeed memorable to see tiny tots singing classical and popular movie songs with confidence in front of a
large gathering and dancing to classical, folk and movie songs dressed up in colorful, traditional costumes and jewellery. The parents and dance teachers of the groups did a tremendous job of preparing the children and getting them ready for the competition. The competition was well conducted and organized by Cultural Chair Srilu Veligeti.
