“Computers”, “Bits & Bytes”, India --- whenever we hear about these words now-a-days, one thing that invariably comes to our minds is the software revolution in India. But India is much more than that. India is the seat of a living civilization and has the rich and mesmerizing culture that is more than 5,000 years old. Similarly, the cuisine of India is extremely diverse with several hundreds of mouth-watering dishes prepared using dozens and dozens of ingredients and spices requiring a unique culinary prowess.
On November 18, the Telugu people of Indianapolis have celebrated Deepavali with glowing enthusiasm and traditional fervor under the umbrella of Greater Indianapolis Telugu Association (GITA). Attended by more than 300 people, including many children, the event featured “a bit of culture” of Telugu people as well as “a byte of Andhra food”. Festivals are conduits to celebrate the glory of Indian culture that stood the test of time and got ingrained in the hearts and minds of Indians whether they live in India or abroad. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju Chinthala, President of GITA, explained about the significance of Indian festivals and the emotional attachment of Indians to Deepavali in particular. He also recounted the achievements of GITA this year, thanked the members and Telugu community and called for continued support for more events to come.
