Named after Bharat Rathna Sir Visweswaraya (Visweswaraya technological University) VTU was established in 1998 recognised by the UGC.VTU is a member of both the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Common wealth Universities. PRESENTLY, as many as 120 Engineering Colleges are being affiliated to it, per year.
The University has concluded MOU with well-known corporations like IBM, INTEL Asia Electronics Inc., Ingersoll-Rand (India) Ltd., and Microsoft for Faculty training, teachers’ workshops student projects and subsidized software. The VTU is also set to establish a state-of-the art technical training institute, Indo-German institute of Technology(IGIT), at Bangalore, in collaboration with leading German corporation.
The University’s newly instituted Post- Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Management (PGDIM) program has been organized at Bangalore through the School of Management for Infrastructure and Development Stategies – India (MINDS), a Division of STEM, has joined in that direction. This was already implemented since 2005.
Need for Trained Infrastructure Managers :
It is found not difficult to discern that the immediate requirement since then for the sake of Indian economy to pool trained further trained quality infrastructure personnel.
who have the ability and grit to convert the huge investment into infrastructure facilities, who could manage and sustain high infrastructure service levels, and who could upgrade the existing facilities by adopting better management practices.
Promising Employment Avenues :
Obviously, with the countries infrastructure sector set to grow exponentially, there are a large numbers promising career opportunities awaiting such trained techno-managerial hands with a passion for infrastructure.
PGDIM in a nutshell :
It is of one year’s (three trimesters) duration. In all disciplines for graduates of Engineering including Agricultural Engineering& Architecture and Post graduates in other disciplines, The program is designed to provide good training in the area of “infrastructure Management” to the selected candidates. They will be getting excellent job opportunities in the public/corporate sectors and public-private partnership enterprises involved in infrastructure planning, development & management, as project managers, analysts & advisors.
Important times to remember are roughly :
* Issue of application forms first week july till last date of submission by end july.
* Two days group discussion and interviews two days in first week August.
* To be followed by declaration of rank list on following day after interviews.
* Last date for acceptance of the offer with DD after one week after rank declaration.
* Reporting for registration for the course the following day after DD payment day.
