Well, very often if we don’t want to do a thing or just want to raise any objection, we say that it is against our culture or values, without even knowing what is our values and culture is. I can wear imported dresses, eat Chines food, move in German cars, watch FTV and when it comes to organizing such shows it is against our culture. I can love anybody’s daughter or sister but if someone loves my daughter or my sister it is against my principles. I can propose to N number of girls but if others celebrate Valentines Day to show their love, it is against our values. We are very confused as what we want in our life and surly even in 21st Century we don’t want to change. The following will the letter I will give to my son (If I happen to have one).
Dear son,
Today is your first day in college and from now onwards you will be interacting directly with the outer world, therefore I felt that it is right time to tell you something from my experience. Now that you have joined college and have decided to choose XYZ course as an area in which you like make your career. I just want tell you that it is not the area we choose that matters but the expertise we have in that area. I wish that you should be best in this area, just undefeatable, that must be the depth of your knowledge. If any body talks about the subject, they must also talk about you.
Now its time for you to dream, dream about the type of life you want to live. Dream about the position where you want to reach, because it is a starting point. Put your dream on paper and chalk out the route to achieve your goals. Paste it on the wall in your study room and day-in, day-out you must see and evaluate as what you want in your life and how far you have reached in that direction. There may be many ways to achieve your goal. Choose the one, you want. Than remember whatever comes in your way, it belongs to you. All the failures, all the hard work, everything is yours. Just remember that you must not give-up at any stage. It takes a lot to realize a dream, to reach the highest pinnacle of life and than to remain there.
In life you will always find to ways of doing a particular thing – right way and wrong way. It will be easy to adopt the wrong way, no struggle at all. It may look easiest way to move on success will be at your doorstep, but the success will be temporary and the end will be very painful. Whereas moving on right way will be very difficult, lots of objections and difficulties. People will try to pull you down, just reject your plans and demoralize you. They just don’t accept you; you need to prove your self. It is at that point of time that you must not loose your sight from the goal, don’t change your plans, be determined, and slog hard for your success. You will surely be able to achieve your goals and success achieved after that hard work would to permanent and satisfying.
There are certain things that I never did in my life and I hope and wish that you too would not be doing it, because it will effect your personality in general and they are social evils. Don’t break anybody’s trust and faith- it hurts a lot. Don’t drink or smoke or chew tobacco or practice womanizing.
You are young, charming and handsome; there is a possibility, as it generally happens at this age that you may fall in love with a girl or other way round. Love is not just a physical attraction but a commitment to be together all the time, irrespective of the stages of life. Love is an unshakable foundation of trust and faith. You will be making relation with someone not known to you earlier. Don’t cheat and break the trust and once you are sure of your love, and feel that you can walk with her in the journey of life and take care of her till you breath your last. Don’t hesitate or feel shy, just tell me, you will surely get that girl, what ever may be the situation or circumstances.
In your journey of life to achieve your goals you will never be alone, in all the circumstances I will be there, to take away the sadness from your life and to give you all the happiness. So Son, just go and reach the stars.

Breathe a dream
into the horizon

Laugh out loud,
hysterically,
at the most difficult of times
and I'll be there
should tears get in the way.
Walk beside me
for a moment on a spring day
down a path we create
with each footstep.
No destination,
but a clearing to part
if the journey should become pointless.
Rediscover the child
residing within you
and smile at the simplicity of it all
and rest for awhile
in the tall grasses of
a forgotten field of daffodils.
