SELF CARE TO CONTROL YOUR HEADACHE
¶ Find out what triggers your headache and try staying away from it.
¶ Avoid taking food and drink that may cause a headache.
¶ Have someone massage tense muscles.
¶ Take painkillers such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin to relieve your headache.
¶ Relax. Rest with eyes closed and breathe slowly and deeply.
¶ Take a bath.
¶ Put a cold washcloth over your eyes.
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF..
The headache comes on suddenly and is explosive or violent.
The headache gets worse over time or is associated with visual difficulties, slurring of
speech, problems in moving arms or legs, or similar problems.
The headache is associated with fever and a very stiff neck.
The headache is associated with head injury.
The headache is the worst you have ever had and comes on suddenly.
The headache has persisted for more than a few days.
The headaches are worst in the morning, no other symptoms are present.
The headaches happen frequently and there is no known cause such as allergies or
chronic sinusitis.
There is a change in the character of your usual headache.
You suspect that you have temporal arteritis.
