Mr. R.K. Karanjia is the Editor-in-Chief of the famous ‘Blitz’. He is a doyen of Indian Journalism. He had Marxist thoughts and was a rationalist and an atheist. He wrote 12 famous books including Arab Dawn, Dawn or Darkness?, The Dagger of Isreal, How Naseer Did it?, Castro: The Storm over Latin America, The Philosophy of Mr. Nehru and the Mind of Mr.Nehru. He has the unique distinction of having interviewed such a galaxy of world leaders as Nehru, Naseer, Khrushchchov, Castro, Arafat, Zhou Enlai and the Shah of Iran and published these conversations in Blitz. He earned a good fame and had an estimated readership of 3,000,000. In 1976, when Sri Sathya Sai Baba was in the eye of the storm raised by his detractors he wrote a few essays on Baba under the title ‘God or Fraud?’ and published them in Blitz creating a tornado in the country. Later he interviewed Bhagawan for 2 hours and being satisfied with the answers he wrote and published a book called ‘God Lives In India’. In the beginning of this book he wrote, “Baba not only radiated powerful emanations of what I can describe as spiritual love and grace, but went on to amaze me with knowledge of the most intimate developments affecting my life and work. He appeared also to know beforehand the questions I had planed to ask. Soon as I began asking one, He would stop me with a gentle tap on the knee to begin answering it. I never completed a question. Still I got all the answers.” (page 2) This particular interview with Baba was published in Blitz continuously for 4 weeks. Karanjia who criticized Baba and wrote articles against Him for years together changed himself after meeting Baba and wrote articles supporting the spiritual thoughts of Baba. This surprised the readers. (This interview can be read at http://worldofsai.org/html/blitz_interview.html) When famous atheists and rationalists like Puchalapalli Sundariah and Karanjia who never agreed with Bhagawan’s philosophy praised Him observing the great works that He is doing in the fields of education and medicine, it is ridiculous that some selfish people who claim themselves to be atheists and rationalists criticize Baba. Before criticizing someone, one must know about that person and his/her background. They must know their standing in society, their position, and the social welfare activities that they have undertaken etc. and then exhibit their knowledge in disparagement. The denigration made must be useful to the society and not harmful. By commenting inconsiderately one should not create problem in the existing state of affairs. Therefore critics should have a sense of discrimination and a sharp intellect.
