Teacher killed for rejecting marriage proposal Visakhapatnam, April 20 (INN): A teacher in Government Tribal Welfare Ashram High School was killed by her former classmate for refusing to marry him at Araku mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
According to Inspector Lakshmana Murthy, 29-year-old L Sundaramma was killed when her former classmate T Subba Rao (32), who had been pestering her to marry him since the past few years, slit her throat with a sharp knife in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon.
Sundaramma was a resident of Dumbriguda in Araku mandal and had been serving as a teacher in the residential school in the tribal area from the year 2000.
Mr Lakshmana Murthy said that Subba Rao was her college classmate and madly in love with her, but she was not interested in him. He had proposed to her in 2004, but she had not only rejected him, but had lodged a complaint with the police.
On Wednesday noon, Subba Rao again met Sundaramma and pleaded with her to marry him. The teacher however refused to do so, leaving him infuriated. He whipped out a knife and slit her throat. She died on the spot.
Subba Rao then made his way to the police station and confessed to the crime. He was arrested while a police party rushed to the spot. The school teacher's body was shifted for autopsy. A case has been registered against Subba Rao and he was sent to judicial custody.
