CPI protest over illegal mining Hyderabad, Aug 30 (INN): Demanding action against the mining mafia, activists of the Communist Party of India protested before the National Mining Development Corporation office here on Monday.
Led by CPI state secretary K Narayana, the protestors demanded that all the mining lease agreements between the state government and private mining companies be cancelled forthwith.
The CPI activists claimed that the states natural wealth was being looted by unscrupulous elements. The activists claimed that some influential people were making thousands of crores of rupees by looting the states resources by managing to obtain licences for mining.
The activists submitted a memorandum to NMDC officials which called for action by the NMDC to stop the illegal mining in the state. Mr Narayana also warned that the CPI would intensify its agitations across the state if no action is taken by the state government over the illegal mining issue.
