Kadapa-Bangalore rail line work to begin from Sept 1 Hyderabad, Aug 31 (INN): Construction of a new railway line from YSR district (formerly Kadapa) to Karnataka capital Bangalore will soon be taken up by the South Central Railways. The new railway line is expected to cut short the distance between Kadapa and Bangalore by 181 km. Minister of State for Railways KH Muniyappa will lay the Foundation Stone for the new railway line on September 1, at 10:30 AM at Kadapa Railway Station.
The new railway line is one of the largest projects of the South Central Railway and estimated to cost Rs 1,785 crore, for a length of 258.3 km. Out of this, about 208 km is in Andhra Pradesh while remaining 50 km forms part of the Karnataka. This project is being executed on 50:50 cost-sharing basis by the railways and the State Governments.
In the current financial year, an amount of Rs 80 crore has been sanctioned for undertaking the works. The new line will pass through Kadapa and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh and Kolar district of Karnataka. It will join the Pakala-Dharmavaram line at Madanapalle. The new line, when constructed will have 54 major bridges and 315 minor bridges, apart from 18 crossing stations and 13 halt stations have been proposed.
The new line will help in cutting short the distance between Kadapa-Bangalore by about 181 km. It will be shorter than the route via Gooty and Dharmavaram and about 226 km shorter route via Renigunta, Jolarpettai and will also shorten the distance by about 125 km via the route from Renigunta, Pakala, Katpadi and Jolarpettai. It will also be a shorter link between North Indian and the capital city of Bangalore in Karnataka. This new line is expected to help enrich the economy and boost the industrial growth in the region
Union Minister of State for Steel A Sai Pratap will preside over the foundation stone laying function. Ministers from AP G Aruna Kumari and Md Ahmedullah Syed, and MPs MV Mysoora Reddy and YS Jaganmohan Reddy will also attend the function.
MLAs YS Vijayalakshmi, Adinarayana Reddy, A Amaranth Reddy, K Srinivasulu, G Sreekanth Reddy, Kamalamma, M Linga Reddy, Shaik Hussain and MLCs YS Vivekanand Reddy, P Subba Reddy and Changala Rayalu along with Mayor P Ravindranath Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson Jyothi Reddy, DL Ravindra Reddy, G Veera Siva Reddy will also participate in the programme.
