Reveal basis for obstructing YSR Park: SC to Forum New Delhi, Aug 31 (INN): The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Forum for Better Hyderabad to reveal the basis of its opposition to the construction of a memorial park of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy at Necklace Road. The Court directed the Forum for Better Hyderabad to file an explanation within one week. The explanation will have to be accompanied by with substantiating documents.
Disposing off of a petition filed by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, which sought the approval of the Court for going ahead with the construction of the park, the Court directed the Forum to file its objections before one week.
According to sources, the government had allotted 20 acres of land near Prasad's Imax Theatre Complex on Necklace Road for the proposed YSR Memorial Park. Chief Minister K Rosaiah would lay the foundation stone on the first death anniversary of the former chief minister on September 2. The HMDA had already assured the court that there will be no concrete structures, which were prohibited by the Apex Court.
The memorial project has been entrusted to Kishore D Pradhan, an architect and landscaping specialist, and will cost Rs 15 crore.
