DGP reviews security measures for G-1 exams Hyderabad, Sept 3 (INN): Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao on Friday directed the police to make foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of Group-1 preliminary examinations being conducted by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on September 5.
The DGP on Friday conducted a review meeting with officials in the wake of Telangana Students Joint Action Committee call for Telangana bandh on September 5. The TSJAC is demanding postponement of examination until the government clears its stand on reserving 42 percent quota in jobs for G-1 qualifiers from Telangana.
The DGP directed the Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to install video cameras around the examination centres to record the movement of students.
Mr Aravinda Rao also directed them to impose Section 144 around the 445 examination centres to prevent any untoward incidents. Two lakh students are expected to take the examination across the state for 198 posts.
The DGP warned that the police would initiate stern action against those who attempt to disrupt the examination. He said the police would arrange a three-tier security network at the examination centre and record the movement of students.
Mr Aravinda Rao said 61,000 students were expected to take the examination at 125 centres in the city. In Telangana region, about 34,000 students were expected to take the examination being conducted at 188 centres. The police will review the situation and issue orders accordingly for the smooth conduct of examination, he said.
