Police blocked 'I hate balayya' website Hyderabad, Feb 28 (INN): A website, hosting defamatory content against popular Telugu film actor Balakrishna has now come under the police scanner. Investigation against the website, ihatebalayya.com was taken up after Balakrishna, popularly called Balayya, lodged a complaint with the Central Crime Station (CCS) police alleging that he was being defamed through the website. He had met Deputy Commissioner of Police, CCS, J Satyanarayana around a fortnight ago and had lodged a complaint.
Balayya reportedly told the DCP that the content on the website was exclusively dedicated to humiliating him and his nephew Jr NTR, Kalayanram and Tarakaratna. He also pointed out that the site had posted morphed photographs besides vulgar comments and jokes at his expense. Besides Balayya, the website also featured derogatory content about actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi, his brothers Pavan Kalyan, Nagendra Babu, son Ram Charan Teja and nephew Allu Arjun.
Following the complaint, the Cyber Crime wing registered cases under relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000. Under Section 66 (a) of the Information Technology Act, sending and posting grossly offensive content and criminal hatred will invite penal action with up to three years imprisonment and a fine.
Investigations revealed that the site was registered with a US-based firm with the server in Australia. According to information coming in, the police are seeking legal advice whether to approach a Court and plead it to sent Letters Rogatory to the concerned foreign countries. Meanwhile, the police have managed to block the website from being accessible from India.
