Natti files case against Dhanush

Hyderabad The movie '3', starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan, which made headlines earlier with viral number 'Kolaveri Di', is back in the news again, though for all the wrong reasons.

Earlier it was about for a 'rift' among couple Dhanush and Aishwarya due to Dhanush' 'closeness' with Shruti which even 'miffed' Rajinikanth.

The movie, which is maiden directorial effort of Aishwarya R Dhanush, daughter of Rajinikanth, is now creating a flutter in T-town and K-town due to ugly tug of war between its Tamil producer Kasthuri Raja and Telugu producer Natti Kumar.

The movie, which was originally produced by Kasthuri Raja under RK Productions in Tamil, was dubbed into Telugu that was bought by Natti Kumar and released simultaneously with its original version on March 30. It also made news for reported losses to '3' distributors to the extent of 80% of their investment.

The latest is that Natti Kumar has filed a case with SR Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad, against Kasthuri Raja, actor Dhanush and director Aishwarya, saying that the audio rights of '3' had been sold 'illegally' to two parties - Sony and him.

Meanwhile, Kasthuri Raja (also father of Dhanush) lodged a complaint in South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) that producer Natti Kumar has evaded paying him Rs 1.85 crore.

Natti told, 'I had paid a total of Rs 4.35 crore and bought the rights of the movie. I also gave blank cheques as per the protocol before such agreements.

However, Kasthuri Raja and producer C Kalyan ' who is my rival ' have conspired against me by resorting to forgery of my signature on the blank cheques and ensuring that the cheque bounces, thereby portraying me as a defaulter.'

'Dhanush is a 420 and his father Kasthuri Raja is 840. Both are abusing Rajinikanth's stature in the industry,' he said. Natti even went to the extent of saying that Dhanush is blackmailing Rajinikanth, saying that if the superstar intervenes, he will commit suicide.

He further claimed, 'Producer C Kalyan, who is also the president of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, is the one who is backing producer Kasturi Raja. There is a nexus between them and they're deliberately targeting me.'

However, Kasthuri Raja's version is completely different. He told that: 'Natti Kumar is a joker. He is the one who arranged for a grand audio launch in Hyderabad and released it through Sony. But now, after the release of the movie, he has lodged a complaint.'

He bought the Telugu dubbing rights of '3' for Rs 4.35 crore but paid only Rs 2.50 crore at the time of signing the agreement. He then issued two other cheques for the balance Rs 1.85 crore which we later came to know that they were bounced due to inadequate funds in his account. Despite several reminders, he hasn't bothered to pay up and he clearly has the intention to cheat.'

'He is also unnecessarily dragging Dhanush, Aishwarya and Rajinikanth into the picture to attract media attention. I've enough evidence and I'd like to proceed legally. I'm soon going to file a defamation suit against Natti Kumar,' he said.

He added that it is unfair to drag Dhanush into the controversy as he is just an actor in the movie and has got nothing to do with the mess. Dhanush was unavailable for comment as he is currently shooting in South Africa for 'Mariyaan'.
