Met officials said the present mercury levels were close to heat wave conditions giving a tough time to the people, especially in the rural areas.
Temperature recording five degrees above the normal levels would be considered as heat wave conditions. Hyderabad continued to reel under 45 degrees, followed by Tirupati at 42 degrees, Vijayawada 40 degrees and Warangal 43.
The officials said the situation was bearable in north coastal Andhra while sultry and heat conditions were prevailing in Rayalaseema and Telangana. As per predicted climatic condition, mercury levels with average 38 degree Celsius with around 80 per cent relative humidity will continue for two more weeks, the officials said.
Environmentalists allege that industrialisation, ecological imbalances and pollution levels have been causing rise in the temperatures. While hot conditions were prevailing all over the State, the north coastal Andhra received moderate rains during the last 24 hours.
