Godavari floods receding Rajhamundry: The water level in Godavari started receding after reaching over 8 meters since Wednesday evening. At 6 p.m on Wednesday, the water level recorded at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowlaiswaram was 8 meters and the discharge of surplus water into the sea was 2.94 lakh cusecs.
About 5,800 cusecs of water is being released to the three main irrigation canals including 1,500 cusecs for eastern delta, 1,800 cusecs for central delta and 2,500 cusecs for western delta. The discharge of surplus water released into the sea was 3.14 lakh cusecs on Wednesday morning.
The water level in Bhadrachalam was 23.80 meters on Wednesday evening. Irrigation officials forecast that the water level will recede further by Thursday.
