TDP offers Thota Narasimham Kakinada LS seat Kakinada: Former Minister and Jaggampet legislator Thota Narasimham, one of the many Seemandhra ruling party leaders, is making all out efforts to gain entry into Telugu Desam Party. Narsimham met the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
While Naidu is said to be keen that Thota opt for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat, he himself wants to seek a re-election from Jaggampet.
Once this issue is sorted out Narsimham will enter the poll fray as TDP candidate. Narsimham is the son-in-law of former minister and TDP leader Metla Satyanarayana.
Meanwhile, the Congress' position has become pathetic in the district. Senior leaders like Bandaru Satyananda Rao, Thota Thrimurthulu, Rajahmundry MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao, MPs Vundavalli Arun Kumar and GV Harsha Kumar have already quit the party.
Thota Narasimham is likely to follow suit. If this happens, Union Minister M M Pallam Raju will be the only senior leader remaining in the ruling party.
But after the State bifurcation, not even a Ward member is supporting Raju. Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party's entry in the district would plunge the Congress into a deeper crisis, as the lower rung workers would shift to that party.
Legislators Vanga Geeta Viswanath (Pithapuram), Pantham Gandhi Mohan (Peddapuram), Ponnada Satish Kumar (Mummidivaram), Rapaka Varaprasad (Razole) and Satyanarayana Reddy (Rampachodavaram) are weighing the pros and cons of joining another party.
Some are eyeing the Jai Samaikyandhra Party. Kakinada Rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu is willing to switch over; but he can't say `no' to his mentor K Chiranjeevi. If he too quits the Congress, the star's camp will be deserted.
