Regional Passport Office to re-align districts Hyderabad, May 21 (INN): Consequent upon the bifurcation of erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh, the Ministry of External Affairs has decided to re-align the districts between Passpon Office, Visakhapatnam and Passport Office, Hyderabad for the purpose of providing passport services.
As part of this exercise, the districts of Guntur and Krishna in addition to Vanam (UT of Puducherry) have been realigned and mapped to Passport Office, Visakhapatnam w.e.f. 11th May. From 22nd May, complete transfer is being effected. The passport applicants from Guntur, Krishna and Yanam henceforth can choose either of the PSKs viz. Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam under the Passport Office, Visakhapatnam while registering on Passport portal for Passport Services. The passports of applicants will accordingly be printed and issued from Passport Office, Visakhapatnam, said RPO S Ashwini in a press release here on Thursday.
With effect from 22nd May, the jurisdiction of PO Visakhapatnam, with its two P5Ks - Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, would cover the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Yanam.
Passport services to applicants from rest of the districts of Andhra Pradesh viz. Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur districts, will continue to be rendered by PSK Tirupati or PSKs in Hyderabad under Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad, until further orders.
The PSKs in Hyderabad and Nizamabad will continue to cater to the districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, Warangal, Rangareddy, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda of Telangana state. On-hold applicants who have submitted their applications in PSI - Vijayawada till 21st May will be serviced as Walk-In category on any working day between 9.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. in PSK, Vijayawada.
