Pass Women's Quota Bill too, asks Kavitha Hyderabad, Jan 10 (INN): TRS MP K. Kavitha on Thursday said that the Parliament has created history by passing the Bill to provide 10% reservation to economically backward classes with a great pace.
"If the Women Reservation Bill could be passed with the same speed with which the bill on economically weaker sections/general category reservations has been passed in both the houses, our country would be truly progressive. We need more political will behind Reservation for Women," Kavitha Tweeted on Thursday.
Kavitha said that the Bill was passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the same day of its introduction. Welcoming the move, she said that the political parties, especially the Central Government, should show equal seriousness in passing the Women's Reservation Bill to provide 33% quota to women in law making bodies.
She said that the TRS would expend full support to the Women's Reservation Bill which is pending since several years. She said the Bill could ensure political empowerment of women in the country.
