Mudragada followers blockade road Kakinada , Nov 9 (INN): Angry residents of Kirlampudi village in Kakinada district on Tuesday blockaded the Samalkot to Prattipadu Road on the village outskirts by building a brick wall across it. According to the villagers, they were forced to take the extreme step after repeated representations to Panchayat Raj engineers to undertake repairs of the badly damaged road went in vain. The officials filed a complaint against the blockade following which the police tried to clear the road.
The villagers however entered into heated arguments with the police and refused to relent. Officials said the villagers, mostly known to be the followers of former minister Mudragada Padmanabham, did not allow the police to clear the area. Tension prevailed in the area for well over an hour with the villagers adamantly refusing to let the officials clear the road of the obstruction. Normalcy was restored and brick wall dismantled only after the concerned Executive engineer arrived on the spot and assured the protestors that the road repair works will be taken up without further delay.
