30 children ill, parents blame polio drops Vijayawada, Jan 26 (INN): Nearly 30 children in Krishna district were admitted to various hospitals after falling ill, allegedly after being administered polio drops as part of the ongoing pulse polio drive on Wednesday. The pulse polio immunization drive began on January 23.
According to reports, the 30 children, hailing from Chevuripalem in Mudinepally mandal in Gudivada town, took ill after being administered the polio drops. They were rushed to various hospitals in Gudivada town by anxious parents. The parents stated that children fell ill after being administered the polio drops in their villages.
However, District Health Officer Shalini Devi stated the health officials were collecting details of children who fell sick after taking polio drops. She said there is no possibility of any adverse reaction from the polio drops. Dr Shalini Devi also said that the children might fallen ill due to any other reasons. The DHO stated that she would make a statement soon after getting complete details over the incident.
