Four held for smuggling ganja Nizamabad, May 3 (INN): Kamareddy police on Tuesday seized apprehended four persons, including three women, at Kamareddy Railway Station in Nizamabad for trying to smuggle four bags of ganja to neighbouring Maharashtra state.
According to Inspector Prakash, the arrests followed tip-off. The police identified the arrested accused as Bhai Dass (40), Rekha (30), Devaki (35) and Sunitha (30). They are residents of Maharashtra.
Following the tip-off, the police intensified searches at the Railway station and managed to take the four into custody.
Mr Prakash further revealed that the four had arrived here with the purpose of buying the contraband and then selling it in their native Maharashtra. They managed to purchase the ganja at Yellareddypet in Karimnagar district.
The seized ganja weighed about 50 kilo grams, the police added. A case has been registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and further investigations are on.
