Two hacked in Proddatur, killing not political say police Kadapa, May 6 (INN): Police have intensified security at Chennamaharaju Palle, Proddatur in Kadapa district, following the brutal killing of two Congress activists by unidentified persons in the village early on Friday morning.
According to Proddatur Taluk Sub-Inspector Oblesh , Rajuvari Subbarayudu (53) and Rajuvari Lakshminarayana (32) were hacked to death by sickles when they were on their way to their agricultural fields at around dawn. The two are believed to have been given charge of three villages to campaign for the Congress party for the upcoming by-elections.
Police however were quick to delink the murders with the ensuing elections and said that the revenge may be the motive behind the attacks.
Adinarayana, brother of one of the victims Lakshminarayana, told the police that the assailants were waiting near the agricultural field for the victims to arrive and attacked them with sickles at the first opportunity.
The police have shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsies and are investigating further. The police have also heightened security in the Taluk after the news of the murders spread, especially as campaigning for the by-elections is due to end later in the day. A case has been registered under Section 302IPC.
