Husband's attack leaves wife critical Visakhapatnam, May 9 (INN): A man left his 28-year-old wife battling for life in a city hospital after attacking her with a knife at Thatichetlapalem village in Visakhapatnam district on Monday.
According to Sub-Inspector Satya Rao, Bavichettu Govindu repeatedly stabbed his wife of 11 years, Kalyani, leaving her with serious injuries in her stomach, shoulders and other parts of the body while she was on her way to drop her daughters to Venkateswara Convent School at New Railway Colony.
Unknown to her, the husband she had left after daily bickering over his suspicious nature, was waiting for her there with a sharp knife and evil intentions.
Kalyani had left Govindu some months ago to go back to her father's home and start life afresh, fed up with her husband's suspicious nature and aggressive character. The accusations leveled against her included doubts on her character and these led to regular spats between them.
Monday's attack by Govindu left Kalyani in a critical condition at the King George's Hospital in the city. Having attempted to take her life, Govindu made his way to the police station and surrendered. He has been booked under section 307 IPC. Further investigations are on.
