Educational institutes comply with Seemandhra bandh call Hyderabad, July 12 (INN): Following a call by the Samaikhya Andhra Students Joint Action Committee to extend solidarity with the Integrated Andhra Pradesh demand, all educational institutions in Chittoor district remained closed on Tuesday.
All educational institutes, including colleges affiliated to the Sri Venkateswara University and private schools were closed voluntarily in response to the bandh call. The Samaikhya Andhra Students Joint Action Committee is opposing the division of state.
Students took out rallies and staged dharnas across the district, boycotting classes. The SASJAC leaders said that the rallies by the students and the response to the bandh were voluntary.
They added that the protests against bifurcation of state would be intensified in the region until the Centre drops the move altogether.
The JAC members also warned that they would picket the residences of MPs if they failed to resign from their posts on the lines of Telangana MPs, opposing the division of state.
The JAC leaders stated they would observe a bandh in Chittoor district on Wednesday stressing the integration of state and sought cooperation from all people for the bandh.
