Lanco is TD's charity: Devineni Vijayawada: Telugu Desam legislator and party's Krishna district unit president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao here on Friday said the Lanco Group was given as charity (bhiksha) to Lagadapati Rajagopal, who has now become one of the country's richest persons. Speaking to media persons, Mr Umamaheswara Rao said Mr Rajagopal used to 'beg' the Telugu Desam leaders and the then Chief Minister, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, seeking help when the party was in power.
He said Mr Rajagopal used to make rounds around the Telugu Desam offices and leaders with folded hands. He said Mr Naidu had given a life to Mr Rajagopal and ridiculed the latter's criticism of Mr Chandrababu Naidu. Mr Rajagopal had amassed wealth over a period of time, particularly during late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy's regime and was now pointing an accusing finger at the TD Party chief, he alleged.
