A case has been registered and further investigations are on. Police suspect more people or gangs could be involved in ganja smuggling in the state. Last month, about 100 kgs of ganja was seized in Rolugunta mandal.
According to Rolugunta Police, from 2009 till now, around 4,000 kgs of Sheelavathi quality dry ganja and 100 vehicles have been seized in Rolugunta division alone.
However, sources say that about 10,000 kgs of dry ganja was seized in 2010 and 5,000 kgs from January to June this year in Visakhapatnam district which indicates that it was emerging as a safe haven for ganja smuggling and the flourishing ganja cultivation in the district.
