Lorry driver abducts pregnant woman Rajahmundry: A three-month pregnant woman was allegedly abducted by a lorry driver after assaulting her husband at Murari under Garidepally police station limits in East Godavari district on Tuesday night.
According to police, Srinivas and Kavita, a couple who hail from Vijayawada, boarded a lorry at Vijayawada to proceed towards Visakhapatnam on Tuesday night. The lorry driver stopped the vehicle at 8 pm at Ravulapalem to have food.
He also consumed alcohol, boarded the lorry along with his friend. They misbehaved with Kavita, who was sitting in the cabin.
When Srinivas objected, they bashed him up and threw him out of the lorry at Murari on the national highway No. 5 at 12 midnight on Tuesday and sped away. Meanwhile, the passersby, who saw Srinivas in an unconscious state, informed the Garidepally police.
The police rushed to the spot and shifted him to Rajahmundry government hospital. Later, he told them about the incident and pleaded with the police to rescue his wife.
