Abhinandana director passes away Ace southern cinematographer and director Ashok Kumar Agarwal who is battling for life in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Chennai for over a month with health-related issues has passed away.
Ashok Kumar worked as a lens man for over 100 films across several languages. Some of his best works include films such as 'Jeansa, 'Nadigan' and 'Johnny'. He received a National Award for his work in 1980 Tamil film 'Nenjathai Killathe'.
The ace camera man worked for more than hundred films for different languages namely Tamil, Telugu and even for Bollywood movies. After working as lens man for many super hit films Ashok turned director and helmed successful movies like 'Abhinandana' (Telugu), 'Andru Peitha Mazhayil' (Tamil), and 'Kaamagni' (Hindi).
He got the opportunity to work with many stalwarts in the industry and his own contribution to Indian Cinema and especially to South Cinema is laudable. He directed two film in Telugu Abhinandana and Neerajanam, which were still considered as the best musical films.
Abhinandana won AP state Nandi awards and it was a all time classic in Tollywood. After Ashok's health condition deteriorated and left with no hope, his family brought him back home, where he passed away.
