Is Lingaa a true copy of Chiru's Indra? Rajiniknath's upcoming film Lingaa is grappling with a series of controversies. The film was already in news after a director approaching the court alleging that Lingaa story belonged to him.
Now the film is facing another trouble and this time from a Chennai based production house. A civil suit was filed by M/s Balaji Studios Private Limited, which claimed that the storyline of 'Lingaa' was in line with that of Telugu film 'Indra' which stars Chiranjeevi and Sonali Bendre in the lead roles.
The producer alleged that Lingaa is a blatant copy of Mega Star Chiranjeevi's Indra. The producer requested the court to halt the release of the film. He said that the storyline, dialogues, scene sequence and characters of 'Lingaa' is the infringement of 'Indra', for which it had the remake rights in Tamil. He said his production house is planning to remake Indra in Tamil and other languages.
He wanted the High Court to hold up the release of "Lingaa" till the copyright infringement issue was sorted out. However the court refused the plea and clears way for Lingaa's release. The film which stars Rajini, Sonakshi and Anushka is all set to release on Dec 12.
