Amala take on cock fights This Sankranti, cock fights were rampant in Andhra Pradesh. Though High Court imposed a ban on the fights and it hardly has any affect on the organizers.
PETA's face and yester year actress Akkineni Amala raised her voice against cock fights. She said this social evil has been running for several years now and that it is about time to put a full stop to this cruelty. She also blamed government for not stopping the cruel game.
The PETA activist also appealed to people that they should come forward to tackle and address bigger problems and put an end to cruelty called cock fights.
Meanwhile the districts of East Godavari and West Godavari are witnessing massive bettings on cock fights this year with even film celebrities and politicians behind the betting scene. According to an estimation, the total money spent on Cockfights in the three districts for these three days this year is pegged at over Rs 100 Crore.
People from Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada visit the villages for the betting in Konaseema region of the coastal Andhra. An estimated Rs.70 crore bettings were placed this year in coastal Andhra alone.
