GHMC proposes to develop 150 KM road stretches Hyderabad, July 3 (INN): GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the officials of HMR, R&B, National Highways to put the proposals for overall development of 150 kilometers of road stretches which includes major Tourism spots attractions, shopping area, the venue for Metropolis and the accommodation of delegates.
The Commissioner held a review meeting on arrangements to be made for the 'Metropolis' with all the heads of line departments in his chambers today.
The Commissioner directed them to give proposals in a way that the roads ensure smooth ride of International standards. He has directed the officials to submit the list of the roads before 6th July (irrespective of the ownership of the roads) in order to put up the proposals before Government for seeking funds.
He said that the road works will be taken up with a view to complete the total recarpeting of roads before 15th September 2014 with defect liability period.
Someh Kumar directed the Urban Biodiversity Wing officials of GHMC to renovate all the works which were basically taken up for COP-11 and to develop the 125 kilometers main roads stretch with seasonal flowering such as Mary Gold and Petunias. He further directed the UBD officials to plan for some more new proposals of fountains in important locations.
The Commissioner directed the HMR officials to concentrate more on Road No 36, Jubilee Hills. He also directed the Tourism officials to prepare the tender document for providing LED lighting at all historical monuments and important buildings in a way to change the colour of lighting depending on the mood of the city.
He further directed the Tourism Officials to coordinate with the GMR authorities in Airport to take care of delegates journey from Airport to accommodation, accommodation to Venue and back.
Central Zone Commissioner D Ronald Rose, HMR Managing Director NVS Reddy, Engineer-in-Chief R Dhan Singh and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
