Durga idol damaged in accidental fire Visakhapatnam, Oct 12(INN): A 56-feet tall statue of Goddess Kanaka Durga, installed at Vempallenagaram in Gajuwaka Centre in Visakhapatnam district to mark Dasara celebrations, was partially damaged after fire engulfed the pandal on Monday night. According to sources, the blaze broke out around midnight. Fire tenders from Gajuwaka were pressed into service to put off the fire.
The reason for the fire mishap was yet to be ascertained. However, no casualty has been reported in the incident. About 50 local youth had made efforts to install the statue of Goddess day and night for nearly two months.
