Rich haul of explosives seized from quarry Kadapa, Dec 31 (INN): Porumamilla policemen on Friday arrested one person and seized large cache of explosives from a quarry at Mamidipalli village, Kalasapasu mandal in the district. According to Inspector S Vijay, the haul of explosives, including 15 bags of ammonium nitrite weighing about 750 kilo grams, 1076 detonators, 970 gelatin steaks, 350 metre of fuse wire and a battery were seized from the quarry. The police had conducted the raid on the quarry after being tipped-off.
Inspector Vijay identified the person arrested as one P Reddy (44), who was working in Sri Vinayaka Stone Crushers, a quarry owned by one Nageshwar Reddy who is presently absconding. A case has been booked against Nageshwar Reddy under the Explosives Act for storing explosives in the quarry without license. When questioned, the Inspector said that investigations are on to ascertain whether the explosives were stored to blast rocks to be used in the crushing unit or for any other purpose.
