YSR Congress targets 1 crore membership Hyderabad, June 26 (INN): The YSR Congress Party, with morale high among its activists from the recent thumping victory in the by-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies, aims to enroll more than one crore voters in the state during its first member enrolment drive to be taken up from July 1.
YSR Congress Party state coordinator PNV Prasad told media persons at Sagar Society, the party's headquarters on Sunday that the enrolment drive would be taken up across the state from July 1, which would see its activists go from door to door in every village, mandal and district and urge the people to become party members.
'The party workers would go from door to door to enrol members for the party. All sections of people including youth, women, the aged, people from the weaker sections and those from the minority would be approached. Every person in the state would be our priority, without his or her social standing,' Mr Prasad said.
He said that a nominal fee of Rs 10 would be charged from the men to become the party's primary member for three years. For the women, the primary membership fee is just Rs 5 for three years, Mr Prasad revealed.
The YSR Congress leader further revealed that Rs 100 would be charged from the men for active membership of the party, while Rs 50 has been fixed as the fee for women to enrol as active members.
Mr Prasad revealed that the membership drive would be completed on July 20. 'We are confident that the membership drive will further strengthen the party in the all districts across the state,' he stated.
