34 crore worth jewels donated to Lord: TTD Tirumala, April 3: The famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala received Rs.34 crore worth gold jewels in a span of just three months creating a new record in the history of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams said TTD Chairman Sri Kanumuru Bapiraju.
Addressing media perons in Tirumala Annamaiah Bhavan after the board meeting he said, from 1st of October 2011 till 31st of December 2011, the temple treasury added new jewels with the largessee by devotees who thronged the pilgrim town during that period.
He said the Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari has handed over 4.5 acres of land to TTD to construct Lord Venkateswara temple. TTD has already sanctioned about 22crores towards the construction of the temple, the chairman added.
He also said the Ramakrishna Mission has come forward to take care of the TTD book stall located in TTD information Centre at Bangalore.
