Four children hurt as school bus overturns Ganapavaram, December 2. A five year old child's left hand was severed and three children sustained minor injuries when a school bus plunged into an agricultural field at Ganapavaram, near Tripurantakam in Prakasam district on Monday.
Tripurantakam Sub-inspector Y.Nagaraj said the child Ajay kumar, whose left hand got severed in the mishap, was shifted to Guntur hospital and other injured students were sent to home after giving first-aid.
Police arrested the Kerala Residential school bus driver, who allegedly lost control over the steering of the bus carrying 25 students, for 'negligent driving'. The bus was also seized and shifted to the station
MEO N.Bhima Sekhara Rao rushed to the spot, enquired about the incident and consoled the family members of the children.
RTO V. Ram Prasad cancelled the school bus permit and supended the driving licence of the bus driver.
The minister for transport Sidda Raghava Rao directed the transport officials to conduct an inquiry into the bus accident and submit a detailed report and also instructed the officials to conduct a special drive and check the fitness and permits of the school buses and driving licences of the school bus drivers.
