Mumbai's corporators visits GHMC office Hyderabad, Feb 21 (INN): The visiting works committee of Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (City), as part of their study tour, visited the GHMC Head office here on Saturday.
The officials of Urban Community Development gave power point presentation on the activities and programmes of urban community Development where around 20 lakh people, comprising 4.5 lakh households, reside in the slums within GHMC limits.
During the presentation, the officials explained various activities of UCD to alienate the poverty of downtrodden people in the GHMC limits like Vikasam, Aasara, street vendor policy, social security, Bangaru Talli, Dr.YSR Abhayahastam and Jana Sree Bheema Yojana, night shelters to the homeless in community halls under supervision by NGOs, providing night shelter to the attendants beside the Government Hospitals and income source welfare schemes like Driver cum Owner, R.O. water Plants, insurance schemes and other income source programmes.
Later, the visiting team had first hand interaction with the beneficiaries of Owner-Cum-Driver scheme where they enquired the benefits of the scheme. The team members also visited the popular Rs. 5/- food scheme centre at Liberty Bus Stop, where they tasted the food and praised the innovative scheme.
Chairman of the Works Committee Anil Singh and others appreciated the efforts done by the GHMC officials for their initiatives. He said the GMMC would try to implement these innovative schemes in their Corporation.
